The Billingsley School Of Music & Art is a non-profit providing access to the youth of Minneapolis.

BSOMA empowers youth in Minneapolis with a transformative, high quality, and urban music education experience that develops the behaviors and artistic skills needed for a successful life and artistic career.

We believe

Every student should have access to a high quality arts education.

Every student is precious, cared for, valued, and loved.

We love the arts more than anything.

Traditional music lessons are expensive and the music taught does not reflect our cultural experiences.

At BSOMA our music mentors provide discounted lessons helping students foster a deep love and appreciation for the arts. Our programs develop original music groups and open doors to performance opportunities around the world.

Every student should
have access to a high
quality arts education.

Our teachers are some of the best in Minnesota and love the arts and our students. Every student is valued, cared for and loved.

Give Access.
The Arts have the Power.

Your contribution is more than a donation. It goes straight to work helping hundreds of underserved youth in Minneapolis reach their highest artistic dreams. Together we can make arts access a reality, but we need your support.

On behalf of everyone impacted by lack of arts access, thank you for being an Arts Access Hero. You are one who changes lives for the better.

BSOMA has over 45 volunteers who are passionate about youth arts!

They donate their time and talents to support our educational programming, youth performances and fundraising efforts. Will you join our team of volunteers or interns?

"Keyboarding, visual art, bucket drumming, and performing arts were taught giving our scholars the opportunity to create original content. BSOMA also created opportunities to perform before thousands of people in external community performances; an experience our scholars would not have had.”
— Dr. B. Charvez Russell | Executive Director – Friendship Academy
"BSOMA has been a gift to our family. We are thrilled at the growth we have seen in our daughter during her time there. They see your strengths and areas for growth and then tailor the work to meet your specific needs. She has recorded, performed in front of 1,200 people, and went on a college visit with BSOMA. We look forward to her continued growth."
— Allison Breininger | BSOMA Parent
